Wildpark of Gyulaj
Gyulaj forest and wildpark
Most renowned among the natural beauties of the area is the Gyulaj Forest wild reservation. On its territory of 7.800 hectares (oak and elm varieties), lives one of the world-wide largest populations of fallow deer. (Dama dama). The managing company (Gyulaj Zrt.) runs a high level business in forestry, wildlife management and hunting. Valuable trophy-winner deer specimens are shot every year and boar hunting is also profitable. Hunters, single guests and groups are accommodated in hotel quality chalets with full board. Only hunters are accepted during the season, but off-season the reservation can be visited also by tourist groups.
In May of 2008. opened the gates of a new wildpark on 20 hektars, that can be visited every day from 5 o'clock a.m till 9 o' clock p.m. against admission fee.
The wildpark was so formed that the visitors can observe the different game assortments in this closed area. Through the park leads an about 2 km long walking path, where from the games might as well observe, but if you find longer time for the observation, then 2 hiding-huts and a forest look-out tower are also available. The tables next to the forest path demonstrate the game assortments, hunting tools and their functions in the forestry. At the end of the walking the younger nature-lovers can stroke deers too.
In the wildpark you can see the following games: fallow deer, red deer, roe deer, wild boar.
